Frequently asked questions

How much does Etsy charge per sale?

Etsy charges a $0.20 listing fee, a 6.5% transaction fee on the order total including shipping, and payment processing of 3% plus $0.25 for US sellers. If the sale came from an Offsite Ads click, add 15% (or 12% if you made $10,000+ in the last 365 days). Use the Etsy fee calculator above for an exact breakdown.

How much does eBay take per sale?

For most categories without a store, eBay takes a 13.6% final value fee on the total amount of the sale including shipping, plus a per-order fee of $0.30 on orders of $10.00 or less and $0.40 above that. International buyers add a 1.65% fee. The rate drops to 2.35% on the portion of a sale above $7,500.

What does Poshmark charge sellers?

Poshmark charges a flat $2.95 commission on sales of $15 or less, and 20% on anything above $15. The buyer covers shipping with Poshmark's prepaid label, so there are no shipping fees on the seller side.

Which marketplace has the lowest fees?

Run the numbers: at a $25 item with $5 shipping, Etsy takes $3.30, eBay takes $4.48, and Poshmark takes $5.00 (20% of the item). Etsy's per-sale fees are the lowest of the three at most price points — roughly 10–11% of the order — with eBay's 13.6% plus its per-order fee in the middle and Poshmark's 20% highest above $15. Poshmark's flat $2.95 under $15 is simple and predictable, but it is still more than Etsy takes on a small sale. Fees aren't everything — audience and category fit matter too.

Does eBay charge a listing fee?

Your first 250 listings each month are free on a standard non-store account. Beyond that, each insertion costs $0.35. Listing in most categories at the standard rate carries no other upfront cost — the final value fee (13.6%) and the $0.40 per-order fee only apply when the item sells. Store subscribers get a larger free-insertion allowance and different rates.

How do Poshmark sellers get paid?

After a sale completes, Poshmark deducts its commission ($2.95 flat on sales of $15 or less, 20% above that) and credits the remainder to your account as earnings, which you then withdraw to your bank (direct deposit for US sellers). Poshmark releases earnings once the sale is confirmed, and withdrawal timing depends on your bank — check Poshmark's official help pages for the current payout schedule before you plan around it.

Does Etsy charge me if my item doesn't sell?

Yes — the $0.20 listing fee applies when you publish a listing, whether or not it sells, and it covers a 4-month period (or until the item sells). If auto-renew is on, a new $0.20 fee is charged each time the listing expires unsold and renews. There are no other unsold-item charges: transaction and payment fees only apply to completed sales.

Are these fees lower with a store subscription?

They can be — each marketplace offers subscription tiers that change the fee structure (lower final value or transaction fees, more free listings, different ad credits), in exchange for a monthly price. The rates on this site and in our calculators are the standard no-store rates for US sellers, which is where most casual sellers start. If you list in high volume, compare the official store-tier pages for your category before subscribing.
